Ottawa, Canada, July 3, 2019 – Gusto Worldwide Media announced today that Ovation has inked a content deal for its hit food program DNA Dinners (16×30). The series that explores diverse cultures and cuisines will air on Ovation’s travel-entertainment app Journy in the US. Available on iOS, Android, or Roku devices, Journy showcases television series and shorts that focus on world travel, cultural tourism, and global citizenry. Shot in 2018, DNA Dinners is a new Gusto production, which was most recently acquired by MENA based entertainment network OSN.
DNA Dinners is a powerful series that takes viewers on an emotional roller coaster ride, with delicious dishes along the way. Each episode explores diverse cultures while telling the unique stories of people who are unsure of their ancestry. Host Tyrone Edwards begins their journey of self-discovery by revealing the surprising results of their DNA test. Working alongside an expert chef, each person then cooks a meal for their family that combines the iconic flavours and ingredients of their two cultures. DNA Dinners features fascinating combinations of cuisines such as Hungarian with Spanish or South African with Filipino.
“DNA Dinners was a deeply personal project for all of us at Gusto. We’re all about diversity and how food connects us. I’ll admit that the production was complicated, but we’ve created a truly global experience for viewers” said Chris Knight, President and CEO of Gusto Worldwide Media. “We’re looking forward to bringing the format and series to new territories.”
