Cantaloupe Banana Kale Smoothie Cubes Recipe

This Cantaloupe Banana Kale Smoothie Cubes recipe blends coconut water, fresh cantaloupe, frozen banana, kale, Greek yogurt, dates, chia seeds, and ginger into convenient frozen portions that can help simplify busy mornings. Featured on Gusto TV Studios Presents: Inside and Out, these make-ahead smoothie cubes are designed to be stored in the freezer and prepared the night before for an easy grab-and-go breakfast.

The Inspiration

These Foodful Smoothie Cubes are inspired by a common challenge: finding ways to make nourishing homemade food fit more easily into a busy routine. Featured in the Overall Life Balance segment of Gusto TV Studios Presents: Inside and Out, host Sylvia Meo demonstrates how a little advance preparation can make mornings feel more organized without requiring a complicated breakfast routine.

Smoothies are already known for convenience, but making one from scratch every morning can still require several steps. Fruit needs to be portioned, greens need to be added, ingredients have to be measured, the blender has to come out, and everything has to be cleaned afterward.

On Gusto TV Studios Presents: Inside and Out, Sylvia Meo’s Foodful Smoothie Cubes offer a practical example of how planning ahead can support a more balanced daily rhythm while still keeping food enjoyable, colourful, and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut water bottle
  • 1 cup fresh cantaloup, cubed
  • 1 cup, frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen organic kale
  • ½ cup plain organic Greek yogurt
  • 3 dates, pitted
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • ½-1 inch piece fresh ginger

Method

  • Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender, starting with the coconut water at the bottom, followed by the fresh cantaloup and the rest of the ingredients, and puree until smooth.
  • Pour into a silicone small cube tray or mould and freeze. Use a spatula to fill the cubes evenly and gently drop the mould on the counter to remove any bubbles and ensure each cube is properly filled.
  • Freeze for a few hours or overnight. Push or pop the cubes out of the tray and place into a silicone freezer bag.  These cubes can be stored in the freezer for at least one month.

Serving Suggestions

These Foodful Cantaloupe, Banana & Kale Smoothie Cubes are designed specifically for busy mornings, but they can also be useful for afternoon snacks, post-workout refreshments, or days when you want something cold and easy to prepare ahead. For the simplest routine, transfer several frozen cubes into a lidded smoothie cup before bed and leave them in the refrigerator overnight so they are ready to shake or stir in the morning.

If the thawed smoothie is thicker than you prefer, add a splash of coconut water and mix until it reaches your desired consistency. The cubes can also be used as a base for a freshly blended smoothie by placing several directly into a blender with additional coconut water or milk.

Pair the smoothie with toast, oatmeal, eggs, fruit, or another favourite breakfast if you want a more substantial morning meal. Because the cubes are individually portioned, the serving size can also be adjusted depending on appetite and schedule.

Final Thoughts

This Cantaloupe Banana Kale Smoothie Cubes recipe offers a practical way to make homemade smoothies easier to fit into a busy routine. By blending the ingredients ahead of time and freezing the mixture into individual portions, you can prepare several servings at once and have them ready whenever you need a quick breakfast or refreshing snack.
