Are you creative with a passion for food and writing? Do you want to see your words come alive on screen? If you answered yes, Gusto TV is the place for you. We’re looking for a Writer/Researcher to join our scriptwriting team.
You must be an absolute foodie with a preternatural knowledge of food, cooking, culture, drink, and technique. You have strong research skills and an inquisitive palate. You work well under pressure of deadlines and the hurry-up-ness of television production. We can teach you a bunch of stuff, but you must live for noshing. You are smart, independent, and definitely not a shrinking violet (or any other flower/color combo).
Responsibilities:
- Research dishes and recipes, helping to create the mouthwatering meals our hosts make on-screen
- Work with kitchen on recipe testing
- We will teach you how to participate in writing scripts the Gusto way – blocking out the dynamic actions and scripting the witty banter our hosts are known for
- We will teach you how to write episode summaries and series descriptions as required
- Assist marketing department with writing and research as required
- Participate in brainstorming sessions
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- A broad knowledge of food – world cuisines, cooking techniques, food trends – and you’re always learning more
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with other writers and chefs, and having your work critiqued or edited by them
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Laugh in the face of deadlines
- Positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and most importantly, a love of food!
