Fresh Chocolate-Covered Figs (Fichi Freschi Al Cioccolato)
Yield: 5 figs
Ingredients:
- 5 fresh figs
- 4 ounces (113 g) 70% dark chocolate, broken into pieces
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground cloves
- ¼ cup (60 ml) finely chopped hazelnuts
- Sea salt, optional
Method:
Cut the figs in half lengthwise.
In a glass bowl set over a saucepan half-filled with gently simmering water, melt the chocolate, stirring until it is silky smooth.
Stir in the ground cloves and remove from heat.
Holding it by the stem end, dip a fig half into the chocolate until the bottom half is coated.
Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts (and sea salt, if using).
Transfer to a lined baking sheet.
Repeat for remaining figs.
Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm.
