Ned’s Famous BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 large white onion chopped – approx. 1 cup (250 ml)
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chopped garlic (22 ml)
  • 2 cups diced canned tomato with juice strained off (500 ml) – reserve          juice
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce(60 ml)
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar (60 ml)
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard (60 ml)
  • ¼ cup molasses (60 ml)
  • ¼ cup ketchup (60 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper (30 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a medium skillet sauté onion and garlic until tender.
  2. Deglaze pan with ½ cup (125 ml) of reserved tomato juice. Add diced tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and let cook over medium high heat until slightly
  4. Thickened – about 10 minutes.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
