Lamb Meatballs

Ingredients:

1 small onion, diced

1 ½ pounds (680 g) ground lamb

½ cups (120 ml) breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon (5 ml) cumin

1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground coriander

½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) cinnamon

¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) cayenne

¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) crushed red pepper

½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt

Ground black pepper

Olive oil, for brushing

1 tablespoon (15 ml) chopped mint, for garnish

 

Method:

Preheat oven to 400 F (205 C).

To a large bowl, add onion, lamb, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne, crushed red pepper, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to combine well.

Shape lamb mixture into balls using a 2-ounce (60 ml) scoop. Brush meatballs with olive oil then place on a greased baking sheet. Bake meatballs for 10-12 minutes (they should be browned on the outside and slightly pink inside).

Transfer meatballs to serving platter and garnish with chopped mint.
