Pastry Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons ice water

Directions

  1. Add the flour, sugar, salt and butter to a food processor and pulse till you get a mixture that looks like coarse meal (of course I’ve never seen coarse meal before, so just pulse for a while till it gets to look okay, you’ll know what to do)
  2. Whisk the egg yolks and ice water together in a small bowl and add to the food processor. Pulse again till everything is nicely incorporated
  3. Remove the dough from the processor with your hands or a spatula and roll into a nice ball
  4. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour

Makes enough dough for 1 regular pie
