We are a company that celebrates food, culture and family. We tell stories through food and content. Whether it’s opinion pieces, blogs, articles or social media, we are looking for a non-production professional writer who will help us expand our editorial voice across multiple platforms.
This is a full-time permanent position, based at our studio in Ottawa and working collaboratively with the entire food-loving Gusto team. Come hungry…
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create compelling website, blog and other Gusto TV consumer and business-facing content in the Gusto voice
- Work closely with Executive Producer and production staff to initiate, grow and take ownership of new content ideas
- Ensure accuracy through research
- Proofread all copy, meeting our editorial standards and style guide
- Participate in recipe testing and other culinary and production exercises for content development
- Work with marketing to analyze content metrics and grow audience base
- Occasional appearances on Gusto TV, TikTok and other consumer-facing brand extensions where relevant
You bring:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional writing experience
- A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred
- Social media content creation experience
- Deep knowledge of food and cooking
- Familiarity with various style guides
- Passion, fun, humour and joy to your writing
- Perfect, native-level written English
- Demonstrable previous digital writing experience
- Strong familiarity with social and digital publishing tools
- Flexibility/adaptability: You adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
- Initiative: You don’t wait to be told what to do. You enjoy bringing new ideas to the table
