Smoked salmon with strawberry salsa

This recipe is from the Salmon and Strawberries episode of A is for Apple, hosted by Lauren Gulyas.

Serves 6 as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz (170g) piece of hot smoked salmon
  • 1 cup (250ml) strawberries, washed and hulled
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fine chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) chopped cilantro
  • Zest and juice from 2 limes
  • ½ jalapeno pepper seeds and veins removed
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6 oz (170g) piece of hot smoked salmon

 Directions

  1. Dice strawberries into ¼ inch (.31cm) and place in a bowl.
  2. Remove the skin and pit from avocado and dice into ¼ inch (.31cm).
  3. Sprinkle with red onion, cilantro and zest and juice from the lime.
  4. Fine dice the jalapeño add to the mix, season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve the strawberry salsa with hot smoked salmon and crusty bread.
