Smoked salmon with strawberry salsa
This recipe is from the Salmon and Strawberries episode of A is for Apple, hosted by Lauren Gulyas.
Serves 6 as an appetizer.
Ingredients
- 6 oz (170g) piece of hot smoked salmon
- 1 cup (250ml) strawberries, washed and hulled
- ½ avocado
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) fine chopped red onion
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) chopped cilantro
- Zest and juice from 2 limes
- ½ jalapeno pepper seeds and veins removed
- Salt and pepper
- 6 oz (170g) piece of hot smoked salmon
Directions
- Dice strawberries into ¼ inch (.31cm) and place in a bowl.
- Remove the skin and pit from avocado and dice into ¼ inch (.31cm).
- Sprinkle with red onion, cilantro and zest and juice from the lime.
- Fine dice the jalapeño add to the mix, season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the strawberry salsa with hot smoked salmon and crusty bread.
